Dolly Sods Backpackiing
A backpacking weekend in Dolly Sods. Chris leads the way along the Red River.

He sits in the tent at our campsite. And below is an awesome swim we took in the Red River itself.

052007 Bearfence Mtn.

Hiking in Shenandoah National Park today… this is along the Bearfence Mountain trail. I really enjoy spring and autumn the most from the four seasons. Today the Earth is waking up from her long slumber, the trees are staring to grow again and fertility is everywhere.

Old Rag Trail

Cannot get enough of the fall colors!

This is on the Old Rag Trail in Shenandoah National Park, my favorite 8-mile trail in the park.

And of course a self portrait while hiking on the trails.

Sequoia National Forest and Kern River

While visiting my best friend from college, Lydia, for her birthday in California. We took to the trails along the Kern River in California’s Sequoia National Forest for a day.

A great sequoia, a common sight every direction when hiking in the Giant Sequoia National Monument. The lack of green that I’ve grown accustomed to in Appalachia is quite shocking. But there is an abundance of wildlife around, you may have to look a bit harder for it though.

091005 Vermont Trail

The view from atop Green Mountain in Vermont’s Green National Forest via the Green Mountain Trail. I hiked up the mountain to the top where I rock scrambled a bit and then descended into the valley below to finds a little glacier pond called Little Rock Pond.

This was the first camping/traveling adventure I had done solo in a while. The excursion was also to celebrate my new single status, having recently rid my life of an extremely toxic boyfriend. It was much needed to find the inner Nikki and search for some self in the surroundings of Nature!

051704 bee rock hike

On the trail of Bee Rock Falls, Ky. This is my favorite part of the 5-mile circuit, a little rock shelter you walk through with two entrances and a little waterfall. DEVINE.

102102 Wilson Creek Waterfall

Decided to play weekend warrior and backpack in North Carolina’s Pisgah National Forest alone. This photo of the waterfall is early in the morning. I camped below it, woke up really early, ate breakfast and then hiked to the top of the mountain to see it.

Below is in Wilson Creek, where I had to cross to start my backpacking loop.
