Hanging out the co-worker/partner in crime, Rick Long, on the Berkeley Pier for the sunset!

Earlier — a faucet for cleaning gutted fish on the pier won’t turn off. I tried, but it makes for a great photo with the setting sun’s light.

A former bank now houses only memories, stickers warning of an alarm system and the too familiar advisory to “keep out” on West Main Street in downtown Littleport, Iowa.

Old Prints

Dabbling in more night photography.

Note from 2009: One thing I’ve noticed in looking through my old archives, negatives and prints is that I took a lot of risks figuring out what interested me back then. I had the time, the means and the curiosity to explore them and followed them to where ever they would lead me. This exploration and learning process was very liberating and enjoying!

Needless to say, I do not do the same thing today. Perhaps I should break out the old habits and get out of the funk of daily photojournalism. I think this is the problem that most of us photogs encounter when shooting day-in and day-out. The creativity of the process is gone, the deadline is always lingering and the next assignment is inevitably around the corner.
