100902 Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

I took my weekend to drive to see the Atlantic Ocean.

This is the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

It’s recognized all over the world for its barber shop black swirl. Since much of the land had eroded between the lighthouse and the sea, it was in danger of being swept away. So it was moved half a mile inland in 1999.

Below is the sunset I saw from my campground at Ocracoke Campground and a crab I found on the beach.

It wouldn’t be community journalism without photos of the Friday night football game.

Below is East Lincoln’s star player Jadarious Roseboro as he tries to get more yards after catching a pass.

An airplane flies into Charlette Tuesday evening.

Living in Charlette at the moment, crashing in the spare bedroom of another photographer while I find a place to live in Gastonia.
One of the things that’s different here is the amount of air traffic going into Charlette.

082602 Ozark Dawn

The short pit-stop at home in Nebraska gave way to another adventure to the east coast. En route to North Carolina, for an internship at the Gaston Gazette, I camped along the way . . . cheaper than hotels & I get to see the country’s great outdoors!

I took this at dawn from my campsite in Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks. Doesn’t get any better than this!
