Indigenous guitarist Mato Nanji jams during a solo at their last bar venue ever, played in Lincoln, Neb. The band members are all from the Yankton Rez (Indian Reservation) in South Dakota.

Nebraska and South Dakota Native Americans gather to protest the treatment of their ancestors’ bones at University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Native issues were always present in the state capitol town. I once shook the hand of Russell Means after a speech he gave at the university. Got to talk to John Trudell after he spoke at a middle school. Amazing men in history and for one of the greatest causes: the American Indian Movement.
