About Nikki Fox

Award-winning photojournalist Nikki Fox has always sought adventure in the outdoors and within people. Upon graduating high school she moved to Brazil and attended an Art College at São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo. Next, she enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and earned her Bachelor of Journalism in 2000.

A Nebraska native, Nikki has traveled solo across the country, mainly using photojournalism jobs at newspapers as the means. She has lived in Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa, Wyoming, California, North Carolina, Kentucky and Virginia as an adult. Her longest "pit stop" was in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley for 15 years. For most of that time, she worked at a medium-sized newspaper as its Director of Photography.

Her first webpage was created in 1998, when the Internet was in its infancy. It was written in straight html on a Simple Text document, and it featured her photojournalism work. It has evolved over the years, and has been redesigned multiple times. Nikki enjoys design, layout and learning new ways to make and develop websites.

While living in Appalachia, she fall in love with the exploration of caves and now spends her free time mapping new caves in West Virginia. Combining caving, with vertical techniques and years of photography, she has self-published her first caving book in 2008 titled, "Going Down . . . Underground."

She is currently resides in Randolph County, W.Va., where she can be closer to her passion of the underground world.

Nikki is available for hire in all kinds of photography, video and multi-media needs.
